Writing Rut

I walked a half mile to the library to write, completely motivated.  Sat down, pulled out my computer, started my Spotify Writing Playlist, and opened my writing program.

Nothing.  It all came to a screeching halt.  Dammit.

It does not help, though, that I am currently sitting next to a thinner, slightly older version of George R. R. Martin.

I am one of the worst people when it comes to writing.  I have such a short-term memory screen-shot-2017-01-19-at-3-48-37-pmthat, if I don’t write something down immediately after thinking it, it is lost forever.  Or, until a similar situation jogs that memory out of its hiding place. Which rarely happens….  I have started carrying around a piece of paper or small notebook with me everywhere.  Has it helped?  Not really, because I tend to forget I wrote it down in my notebook and I am back where I started! This is why I can’t have nice things.

Writing is one of the few things I can do moderately well – it is right up there with managing my instagram account, breathing, and walking.  Scratch walking – I totally tripped on thin air on my way to the library.

And, because I am moderately good at writing (rather than the speaking of the words) my focus tends to wander because there is just so much to see and do.
